Brimming brooks satisfy the desire of mountains to move, Perching birds make the trees talk and the Children bring life to the school to make it young and vibrant forever. After twenty three years of journey, SMS English Medium School has not reached the state of stagnation rather still it craves to grow further to flutter higher and higher.
The school started with a vision of educating the rural folk with English as the medium of instruction. Our pioneers have put their heart and soul to achieve this aim and because of their proactive steps the school has reached out to many villages and nurtured the young minds with value based education. Thus the school is on this way to attain its goal set by the founders and at this stage it is time to ponder about the role of the new leader.
School culture which has been already established is a strong foundation and utmost care must be taken to preserve this for the future. This base can accommodate a superstructure upon that, only the sky being the limit to its growth. “Growth” of an institution is directly proportional to ‘growth’ of its students in their life. This ‘growth’ definitely does not mirror the success they get in their materialistic world but it indicates the elevation of his need to the level of self-actualization and evolution of his inner personality. Such people can definitely contribute to the society to make it a better place to live.
Thus‘need’ demands the educators to create a space for the students to open their minds to construct knowledge; to respond to outside world positively by accepting and appreciating diversity; to exercise their skills to boost their self-esteem and have language competency to express themselves clearly.These being the first priority the next step is to create working model to make this happen in the school environment. Sincere involvement of all the members of school team can make this model work efficiently.
Transformational leadership can nurture each one sustain as a leader by sharing vision and mission. When everyone gets a sense of ownership, the whole team will be jelled into a single bond of belongingness to the school.
It is my dream to develop a learning community in the school environment where the school becomes the learning centre to all its stakeholders. School being an important institution of the society it has to maintain a symbiotic relationship with its community.
